Sailing Lifestyle at its Best

Meet Sheila and Tyler

Our Journey

A Dream, a vision and determination

We are Sheila and Tyler Seick

Some would call us dreamers and others would call us crazy.  Few will call us conventional.  Tyler and I dreamed of living on the water and sailing the world experiencing different places, people, and cultures.  It is with this shared dream that Tyler chartered a 50 foot Gulfstar sailboat in Hawaii to exchange our wedding vows in 2003.  The same year we took our first sailing course and purchased a sailboat, a 25’ Catalina named Penneless.

We sailed Penneless for one year in the Puget Sound before Tyler retired from the U.S. Army and accepted a position in Montana.  We packed up our belongings and shipped them along with our boat to Kalispell where we spent the next decade.   Somewhere along the line we lost sight of our dream to sail the world and were content to spend summer evenings and weekends sailing Flathead Lake. We gained valuable experience participating in local club races and regattas.

Returning to the Pacific Northwest reignited our passion for the ocean. In 2020, we took a leap of faith, committing to the construction of a 45-foot Seawind catamaran, the vessel that would carry us on our global adventure. However, impatience fueled our desire to set sail sooner, leading us to temporarily opt for a 45-foot monohull, Liahona, to begin our journey in Mexico.

Over the next few years, our goal is to immerse ourselves in the lifestyle of living aboard, gaining valuable experience and preparing for the ultimate transition to the new catamaran, our floating home.

From Dream to Reality

Deciding to leave our friends, family, jobs, sell or give away most of our worldly possessions to live aboard a 45 foot sailboat wasn’t easy. We did it. You can too. Like Tyler always says, “people do it and we are people, so we can do it.” Whether it is sailing or learning a new language we first have to set our focus on it and then embrace the hard difficult journey.

Join us on our journey of living the sailboat lifestyle and traveling the world.
